Modern Masterpieces of Sacred Architecture

Faith & Form magazine, together with the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture (IFRAA), annually celebrates the best examples of religious architecture and art. This year, a reputable jury selected 27 winners.

The judges noted that the main trends in the past year were a simplification of forms and minimal use of decor. Art historians and architects associate this trend with a common desire for simplicity and the cultivation of purity of form in the modern world.

An equally important feature of the sacred architecture of the outgoing year was the orientation to the needs and desires of the local religious community. Several projects were noted for an integrated approach to solving complex urban problems.
